How to Lose Belly Fat?

Extra weight around the body midsection is not only unattractive, but also increases the risk of heart attacks, particular types of cancer, osteoarthritis and type 2 diabetes. Belly fat is different from other kinds of fat. It is stored deeper in the belly, affecting the functioning of the vital organs. Because of the genetical program, abdomen area has the biggest amount of fat cells. Naturally, fat accumulates in the places designed for this purpose. It is the reason the belly fat is the most "stubborn", hard to reduce.

The oxidative stress increases in the body with the accumulation of fat. Antioxidants that come with the fresh food do not compensate for all the damage, and the diseases start to develop. Research shows that belly fat, known as visceral fat, produces substances that cause inflammation, triggering a variety of health problems. Diet enriched in fruits and vegetables is essential, but not always sufficient. Thus, the reduction of fat is a necessary step in returning your body to the healthy balance.

Sometimes belly fat caused by a genetical predisposition. Mutations in particular genes can cause problems in the metabolism and result in obesity.  For example, FAB2 gene regulates the intracellular transport and fatty acid uptake. Increase in fatty acids absorption results in higher levels of oxidation and disrupts the insulin activity. Thus, by regulating FAB2 gene we can reduce the tendency to store fat and better control the weight and prevent the development of diabetes. Genetical screening can determine which genes cause the increased body weight.

Hormones control Genes. Stress hormone cortisol is responsible for the enlargement of the fat cells. It also prevents our body from burning extra fat. Thus, stress-managing tactics are an important part of the belly fat reduction program.

Another hormone that affects the fat metabolism is a leptin. Produced by the fat cells, it controls the synthesis of substances that affect the appetite. By regulating the sensitivity to the leptin, we can stimulate the natural pathway to the fat reduction.

Specialists emphasize the necessity for the holistic approach to your weight management program. It should not only include changes in your diet, level of physical activity, but also other lifestyle changes like getting sufficient amount of sleep and limiting the alcohol consumption.

Lifestyle changes are necessary to the continuous effort in maintaining and improving your body health.  For the optimal results, your diet and exercise routine should be specific for your hormonal status and the genetical makeup.
